RSS for ‘foolproof’ banking system to prevent frauds

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi said there was a need to change the agrarian policy and the government has to ensure that farmers get a proper price for their produce.

The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh on Sunday expressed concern over ongoing banking frauds – particularly, the recent PNB fraud by jewellers Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi – stating that there should be a ‘foolproof’ banking system so that such frauds are not repeated.

“People take loans and flee the country without repaying. It’s a matter of concern and a challenge before the banking system. The government should come up with a foolproof system to prevent such frauds,” said the newly re-elected RSS general secretary Suresh ‘Bhaiyyaji’ Joshi.

When asked why the Pratinidhi Sabha of the RSS was silent on issues such as economic derailment owing to demonetisation, the goods and services tax (GST), Joshi said no pressing need was felt for passing resolutions on these issues. “The Sangh Parivar goes by its own assessments and is not influenced by external views,” he said.

Joshi said the Ram temple would be built at the Ramjanmabhoomi site and the RSS was hopeful for a favourable Supreme Court verdict in this regard. “The RSS is optimistic about a positive solution through the court of law. We are expecting a positive decision on the land dispute between the two parties over ownership,” he said.

On Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s initiative for a consensus on the issue of Ram temple, Joshi said such an initiative was always welcome. “Construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya should be by consensus and we are ready to be part of any such effort. However, we feel that there is hardly any scope for consensus as some hardliners always put hurdles in the way,” he said.

The RSS general secretary also expressed concern over the growing unrest among farmers across the country. He said farmers’ problems should be dealt with great sensitivity but also advised farmers to take a holistic view of the scenario instead of agitating on streets.

He also condemned the demolition of Communist leader Lenin’s statue in Tripura and the defacement of Jansangh founder Shyamaprasad Mukherjee’s statue in West Bengal. “We should know who is doing this,” he said.

On the three-day Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha that concluded on Sunday, Joshi said the RSS did not feel the need for a resolution as everything seems all right on the political front. “The people of the country are happy with the Narendra Modi government and it will be repeated in the 2019 elections,” he said.
